Alone Time by Wolly-Dream Alone Time by Wolly-Dream

~Please don't repost my art~

Starlight has a lot of anxiety and decided to let herself have some alone time.

I feel pretty good about this! More practice with coloring. I think my coloring is looking better and better!

Be careful, I don't know how she'd react to socializing during her alone time

I noticed that you feel good about this one. You should. This is great.

You have somehow figured out how to draw her from this angle. Not only that, but the hair(witch is in my opinion one of the hardest parts to draw because just one little part of it being misplaced ruins the entire thing) looks very clean and like it could actually be hair.

I can only come up with a few complaints, those being the odd lumps in her back, and the positioning of her rear hoof.

Though I personally feel that the place this rely shines is the coloring, especially when you consider how low the contrast is. You somehow made a picture where having higher contrast is not the best way to go, and found what I feel to be the perfect balance.

Thank you, I worked a lot with the hair. There's multiple layers of highlights and shadows used, along with making the flow of the lines follow gravity's pull. Shadows and highlights in a drawing are often hard to see and especially hard to notice the huge difference they make. No one but the artist is really able to understand since they can unview the shadow/highlight layers to see the differences between the drawing with and without those elements.

The "odd lumps" in her back are parts of her body. For instance, the shoulders. The top of all four legs protrude slightly from the body and it can be seen especially at this angle due to her being on her side while still being seen from above. Her hooves are in a resting state, which means they are slightly bent. Though your hands aren't hooves, you can see a similar affect when you rest one of your hands. When no muscles in the hand are being used, your fingers curl and your hand bends. Her legs aren't tight against her body because she's asleep and at peace right now, her muscles relaxed. Because of this, the legs are slightly outstretched with the hooves just barely bent. That is why the back hoof is positioned that way. The light also falls differently depending on which part of her back it is because of how she's positioned.

Thanks! The highest contrast would probably be her hair where the secondary color in her mane and the brightest highlight are evident. The lower contrast of the body contributes to the relaxing tone, as the colors themselves are relaxed. The background has a calm atmosphere due to the color, toning down the contrast from the secondary color in her hair and making it almost look like a highlight.

Thank you!! Sorry for the late comment by the way. I've been so busy and haven't been paying too much attention to DeviantART.

Thank you! And she definitely is. She enjoys her alone time because she gets a break from being social.
Her major anxiety really makes socializing stressful and it takes a toll on her.
